The Ptuj thermal spa is one of the smallest in Slovenia. The medicinal spring, with a low mineral content and kept at a steady 39C, is extremely beneficial for the treatment and rehabilitation of rheumatic and degenerative illnesses, injuries to the locomotive system, neurological and managerial illnesses. A holiday spent at the spa is as good a source of health as it is an opportunity to relax and actively enjoy your free time. There are four outdoor pools (with waves and a waterslide) and two indoor pools with a whirlpool and hydrotherapy.

Ptuj's lake is the largest artificial lake in Slovenia. Its surface measures 4,1km2. In summer you can rent a kayak or rowing boat by the lake in Ranca or even sail on the lake, either alone or by registering at the school of sailing. The Ob Ribniku guest house also offers boating at their lake.
When winter turns to spring bicycle enthusiasts have the opportunity to cycle through the Drava region, enjoying delicate flowers and exuberant green trees of the new season. You can admire nature in the early hours of the summer mornings, when singing birds pass the time, or on warm autumn days when you can hear the rustling of leaves on forest paths and the view of vineyards and old cottages on the hillsides in the Haloze and Slovenske Gorice regions, draw your attention. New cycle routes are currently being set, aimed at all types of cyclist.
Just a short walk from the old town lies the golf course, which is something of a golfing challenge due to the heterogeneous soil and numerous water hazards. The course spreads over 50 hectares and is well-known for its greens and water features. The Studenica stream and two lakes lie next to fifteen out of the eighteen playing fields. The course successfully combines the greens with views of the old town core, and the authentic fauna and flora of Ptuj's natural surroundings.
Ptuj's spas are located near the golf course which, amongst other hotels and restaurants in the town, offer golfers additional relaxation.
Hiking is becoming a more and more popular way of spending one's free time. The hiking paths in the region offer ideal conditions for walking in the natural environment and among kind people. One of the most popular paths is undoubtedly the Haloze hiking path passing through communities of Zavrč, Cirkulane, Videm, Podlehnik and Majšperk and the castle of Borl all the way to Donačka mountain. The entire path is marked by red-and-white carnations and is divided into four stages; each stage requires 3 to 4 hours walk.
The European hiking road E7, starting in Portugal and leading across Italy and Slovenia to Hungary, joins the Haloze path. The Mountaineering Club Ptuj organises every year on last Saturday in May the traditional hike following one of the four HPP (Haloze Hiking Path). The Club has published, together with its partners, a brochure/catalogue describing hiking and walking paths, as well as natural and cultural monuments, restaurants and inns along the paths. The brochure/catalogue includes detailed maps of each region and is available in five different languages in the office of the Mountaineering Club, the Tourist Information Office in Ptuj and in Cirkulane. The brochure/catalogue describes in details the entire Lower Podravje region, from the Donačka mountain to Polenšak hill.
